While the racial diversity of the early education workforce is a strength to build upon, the current early care and education (ECE) system is built on racial inequities. Lea Austin, Director of the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment (CSCCE) at the University of California, Berkeley, outlines the pervasive disparities that exist in the ECE workforce and explains the urgency of identifying strategies, resources, and practices to disrupt the stratification.
