Carolinas HealthCare System is a large community-oriented, not-for-profit provider that feels deeply its responsibility for the health of the 2.3 million patients it serves. Four years ago, faced with a regional crisis, and in response to the winds of change in the healthcare market moving it towards ‘value’ and away from ‘volume,’ CHS decided to invest audaciously in behavioral health.

Carolinas HealthCare System is now ready to tell the story of just how much that investment has paid off and hopes to inspire other large health systems to ‘lean in’ to the similar crises they face.
