The Bay of Plenty Regional Council is focused on working with landowners to improve and protect biodiversity and adopt management practices that improve the natural habitat for wildlife within the Bay of Plenty.

This video shows the work of the Manawahe Kokako Trust and their endeavours to protect the kokako by restoring its habitat. It also covers what biodiversity is and why it is important.

Biodiversity, short for biological diversity, is the term used to describe the number and variety of living things like animals, fish, plants, insects and micro-organisms found living within a particular area.

These areas contribute to the natural function, quality and character of the Bay of Plenty.
