Protecting biodiversity

Losing biodiversity at an unprecedented and accelerating speed, we must do more to scale up our policies and finance to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity. On September 30th 2020, the Secretary-General delivered a video message at the Summit on Biodiversity, organised in the context of the 75th United Nations General Assembly. In his remarks, he stressed the need to mainstream biodiversity, align policies and scale-up positive incentives, as well as to eliminate incentives harmful to biodiversity. He concluded by affirming that protecting the planet, its resources, nature and biodiversity, is the single, most important, inter-generational responsibility we have.
