Medical Racism & The Tragedy Of Dr. Susan Moore
Dr. Susan Moore contracted COVID-19 late last year and turned to social media to air her grievances regarding her medical care, stating she was the victim of racist medical treatment. To discuss this tragic story and racism in medicine, I’ve invited Dr. Kadijah Ray, a pediatric anesthesiologist and founder of the Facebook group “Physician Woman SOAR”. Dr. Ray and I talked about patient advocacy, the barriers preventing people of color from getting into medicine, the history of racism in medicine, and how we can prevent tragedies like Dr. Moore’s from happening again.
