Woman and Dog Seek Shelter on Rooftop Amid Deadly Kentucky Flooding
Flash flooding hit parts of Kentucky on Thursday, July 28, killing at least 16 people and damaging homes.
This footage uploaded to Facebook by Chloe Adams shows Adams cradling a dog while sitting on the roof of a house surrounded by floodwaters.
“She saved her dog by putting her in a container that would float and then swam with her to a neighboring rooftop,” Adams’ father wrote in a post about the incident.
Chris Bailey, WKYT’s Chief Meteorologist, reposted the story. “Just an incredible story of survival,” he said.
The National Weather Service issued warnings of possible flash flooding in east and southeast Kentucky on Friday as well, and urged residents to move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
