For September's seminar, we invited Mary Lou Wakimura, J.D. and Matt Jacobs, J.D. to share their expertise on Open Source Software (OSS). Mary Lou is a Principal at Hamilton, Smith, Brooks, Reynolds with years of experience advising on OSS licenses and other software licensing agreements. Matt was the VP and General Counsel at Black Duck Software (recently aquired by Synopsys, Inc.), a company whose products automate the process of securing and managing OSS.

Use of OSS is on the rise as software developers seek new ways to reduce costs and get products to market fast. Mary Lou and Matt shared their expertise and discuss the legal basics around using OSS, as well as the benefits, risks, and pitfalls of using OSS in your own software.
