One in three people in the Philippines are obese of overweight and this is mostly due to over consumption of sugar. Dr Gundo Weiler, World Health Organization Representative in the Philippines, describes the work of WHO to support the Government in introducing a specific legislation to tax sugar-sweetened beverages and hence lead to reduction in their consumption.
