Over 70 million children around the world currently work in hazardous conditions. On tobacco farms, these children work long hours, constantly exposed to nicotine and toxic pesticides. In Africa, Asia, and Latin America, children work in underground mines that easily collapse and are forced to use toxic mercury in their labor, which poses risks of brain damage and other serious health conditions. As a whole, children make up one quarter of modern slavery victims.
