The moment of a powerful earthquake hits Morocco. A devastating quake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 has struck, leaving at least 296 dead and more than 150 injured.

Buildings are damaged and locals have been seen fleeing into the streets for safety. Morocco's Interior Ministry has stated that these numbers are preliminary.

The quake's epicentre was located 75 km west of Marrakesh.
