The Tuscan Villa Estate Healthy Living in a Sustainable Landscape
APRIL 23, 2015
NYU Florence, Villa La Pietra (Villa Sassetti)
Villa estates are common across Tuscany and form an integral part of the bucolic Tuscan landscape. Many of the estates have very long histories and are striking for their unchanging structure. The very fact that, like Villa La Pietra, so many of them remain in their much earlier forms is a reflection of their robust physical and conceptual sustainability.
This conference looks at the history of such estates and, with particular reference to Villa La Pietra, reviews how an unchanging model has been reworked over time.
