When standard treatment failed to halt the advance of Bill McCone’s cancer, the computer repair technician turned to a clinical trial of an immune checkpoint inhibitor. Within three months of starting on the immunotherapeutic, Bill’s tumors had shrunk 90 percent and there is now no evidence of disease in his body.
