Hemant Julka talks about our food challenge and its negative impact on our environment and planet. Given that we import around 90% of the food in UAE, VeggiTech - an agro-tech organisation - is implementing Alternative Agricultural practices aligned to UN's Sustainable Developmental Goals of Good Health & Well being, Sustainable Cities & Communities, Responsible Consumption, and Production, and one of UAE's core national agenda item #FoodSecurity - to overcome the 3 challenges of temperature, water and soil to create sustainable grow areas that produce crops all year around. Hemant Julka, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of VeggiTech, has spent over 3 decades in the corporate world in senior roles across the aviation and technology sector before co-founding an agro-tech startup VeggiTech and taking on the role of a full-time farmer in UAE. He is passionate about solving problems at a grass root level and invests his time interacting with students, teachers, and parents across UAE to realize a better world for tomorrow. He is part of our GEMS Modern Academy's Local Advisory Board focusing on Innovation, Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship.
