NEW FREE GRANT $$$ SBA EXTENDED EIDL PPP UPDATE Stimulus Disaster Relief PPP Small Business Grants
We've talked at length about the many cases of fraud concerning the Paycheck Protection Program, and this story is just as wild as the others we’ve discussed.
Due to computer errors, the government handed out duplicate PPP loans to thousands of borrowers, including one person that was able to claim 17 PPP loans.
SBA Inspector General Mike Ware explained: “banks authorized to issue PPP loans made more than one PPP disbursement to 4,260 borrowers, which totaled about $692 million and involved 8,731 PPP loans.”
The borrower received 17 loans from the federal government, for a total of $1.3 million, while at least 104 borrowers received three or more loans.
Hopefully the government is able to get some of these funds back, so that eligible and deserving claimants can get at least 1 forgivable PPP loan.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives voted this week to extend the timeframe of when small businesses across America can collect PPP loans, pushing the March 31st deadline to May 31st.
The bill now heads to the Senate, where if approved, will offer PPP loan claimants 2 extra months to get their paperwork in order to apply for one of these forgivable small business loans from the SBA.
U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship Chair Ben Cardin explained: “It’s clear that the most vulnerable small businesses will need help beyond March 31, so we must pass this extension as quickly as possible.”
He continued: “This common sense, bipartisan bill will meet the continued demand for PPP loans by giving small businesses two more months to apply and giving SBA an additional month to process the loan applications by June 30.”
This sounds like a slam dunk to me, and I hope that all eligible small businesses across America can claim these vital government funds.
Finally, the amazing city of Richland in the great state of Washington, recently announced a program to offer upwards of $7,500 to local companies and small businesses in the Evergreen State.
$4.5 million will be up for grabs, with eligible companies having 5 or fewer employees, showing a decline in revenue, and must be located in Richland.
Even better? Lyft and Uber drivers, food truck employees, child care providers, and more are eligible to apply for these free small business grants.
But hurry, as the deadline to get your application into the state is next Friday, March 26th
