Unlike in many other cancers, the spread of thyroid cancer to the lymph nodes has very little impact on survival in most patients, say thyroid cancer experts at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Lymph nodes that look suspicious may be removed during thyroid surgery, but in most cases, this does not affect the outcome of treatment.
