In this video, Thomas Clancy, MD, a pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgeon in the Division of Surgical Oncology, demonstrates a distal pancreatectomy using the DaVinci robotic surgical system. The indications for pancreatectomy and the workup of pancreatic cystic lesions are briefly discussed. The minimally invasive robotic technique potentially allows the many benefits of standard laparoscopic surgery to be applied to an increasingly complex group of pancreatic tumors.
