Dr. Steven Vos - Apps & Wearable technology
Recent developments in ICT and Sensor Technology have made it possible to study the physical aspects of human behavior on a 24/7 basis. This has resulted in a wide range of "gadgets" that are current being brought to the market. These systems have the ability to gather considerable amounts of real-time data from the human body on a 24/7 basis using low-cost technology. This creates enormous possibilities (e.g. remote care, self management, tracking) but also a lot of challenges such as the transformation of data into for the user meaningful information, privacy issues, reliability, etc. In this presentation possibilities, challenges and pitfalls of apps and wearable technologies for end users, professionals and society will be discussed.
