In South Korea, income disparity has widened since President Moon Jae-in took office in 2017.A September 2019 poll of about 3,300 people by recruiting service provider Saramin, found that three-quarters of respondents see parental background as key to a child's success. Young people from well-off families are seen as getting ahead with their parents' status and wealth, leaving those without such advantages frustrated as they blame Moon for not making enough progress to correct deepening inequality.
