In this talk, Dr Tania Burchardt discusses the problem of ‘data exclusion’ whereby groups of children at risk of poverty and disadvantage are missing from analysis of the main sources researchers and policymakers use to study poverty. She focuses in particular on Roma, Gypsy and Traveller children in England and Wales, and on children in recently arrived migrant families in the UK. This presentation was given at the University of Glasgow, Q-Step Centre Celebration Lecture on 18th May 2018.
