Women's Rights and Gender Issues Workshop,
Ferbruary 22 - 23 2013 , Casablanca
The Morocco MEPI Alumni Local Chapter held the 1st workshop on Women's Rights and Gender Issues on February 22—23 2013 at Idou Anfa Hotel in Casablanca. Attended the activity more than 30 MEPI Alumni coming from different associations and NGOs in Casablanca, Rabat, Kenitra, Salé, and Tifelt. The workshop, moderated by Dr. Latifa El Bouhssini, an expert in Gender and Women's rights, focused on the following main points:
- The concept "gender": family influence, resistance and
stereotypes,
- Access and monitoring resources,
- Women's civil rights, political rights and current perspectives
The MEPI Alumni were heavily involved in the debate and engaged in the discussions on how authorities can be enlisted to take women's rights into consideration in order to empower their roles in community issues and decision making.
The workshop featured an opening remark delivered by Mr. Riad Berdayi, MEPI administrator, US Embassy and the presence of Ms. Angela Wisely, Public Affairs officer at Dar America (Casablanca Consulate) and Ms. Amina Jaouad, Director of the Resource Center at Dar America.
