To coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week, the National Army Museum played host to a special evening exploring mental health in the Military.

A performance of the acclaimed one-man play, “Shell Shock” was followed by a panel discussion with some of the country’s leading experts on the subject.

As the production continues its tour, with the next production in Basingstoke, here are some highlights from that very special and insightful evening.

Hosted by: Caroline Wyatt, BBC Journalist and Presenter, sitting on the panel were:

Professor Sir Simon Wessely, Regius Professor of Psychiatry and Co-Director of Military Health Research, King’s College London

Dr Jonathan Leach, NHS England Medical Director for Armed Forces and Veterans Health

Dr Walter Busuttil, Medical Director, Combat Stress

And Warrant Officer Class 1, Gavin Paton, Army Sergeant Major, British Army.
