Steve Mann - Experiencing Different Versions of Reality Through Multimedia Computer Eye Wear
Canadian engineer, professor, and inventor, Steve Mann, is wearing a strange device on his face, giving him the opportunity to see different versions of reality, different views of the world. Steve is the inventor of WearComp, the wearable computer system. WearComp is a multimedia computer running into Steve's eye, which departs significantly from the ideas of the desktop metaphor and laptop computer style experience. Steve touches on cybernetic photography and the idea of using mediated reality with these wearable computers as a form of collaboration in the production of visual art. Watch, as Steve discusses the functions of WearComp and shows us a excerpt from his documentary, "Shooting Back", a documentary about making a documentary of video surveillance.
