Solutions to World's Hunger Problem | Prem K. Dantu | TEDxDEI
Hunger is a major problem affecting almost 820 million people across the globe according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The talk provides details of certain proven strategies that could be adopted to enhance food productivity and ways to ensure that food reaches all. Prem Kumar Dantu is a trained biotechnologist and has been passionately associated with agriculture for almost 40 years now. Taming harsh sandy soils of semi-arid Agra or establishing orchards in the mountainous terrain of Himachal Pradesh or working on sodic soils near Varanasi are challenges to hone the agricultural skills. The poignant site of people living at subsistence level or sleeping with a hungry stomach or malnutrion in kids concern me deeply.
He has been working on models of community farming, sustainable kitchen gardens and protected farming using precision agriculture tools for enhancing productivity. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
