Ethiopia is home to 13 million children under 5 years old. Many of who start every morning with a biscuit of poor nutritious value.

Meanwhile, more than 5 million children are stunted due to malnutrition. The Sustainable Food Platform is addressing this challenge. By combining the knowledge of 9 different companies and organizations, we are partnering with a local biscuit factory to produce a new, nutritious, accessible and affordable biscuit.

Each partner adds their unique value to the partnership.

DanChurchAid empowers small holder farmers and create jobs
Engsko provides better grinding solutions to the local ingredients

The recipe is innovated by the local partner in collaboration with 5 expert brands who each add key components like
• knowledge on child nutrition
• Enzymes to reduce added sugar
• Whey ingredients to increase protein level
• Food science
• And general know-how on food aid.

The new improved bicsuit will be produced locally at the factory.

Finally the biscuit is distributed to low-income consumers, refugee camps and host communities.

With this collaborative partnership model, we innovate to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goal in order to fight child malnutrition in Ethiopia.
