MND represents a family of 5 neurological disorders that affect the motor neurons in humans.These Motor neuron cells control our voluntary muscle movements including talking, walking, eating/swallowing, and most movements of our body. The disease is considered neurodegenerative and causes rapid disability and if left untreated, eventual death.

MND or Motor neuron disease is also called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS or “Lou Gehrig Disease.” Other MND diagnosis include: pseudobulbar palsy, primary lateral sclerosis, progressive muscular atrophy and progressive bulbar palsy. Motor neuron diseases refer to a subset of other similar disorders of motor neurons including SMA or spinal muscular atrophy or spinobulbar muscular atrophy.

The disease affects either the lower motor neurons, upper motor neurons or both. Please note motor neurone disease stem cell treatment is not suitable for all patients. Rarly signs of motor neurone disease need to be treated immediately to prevent rapid decline.
