Minister Dr. José Herrera, a pioneer in ocean protection, preservation, and cleaning

Minister for the Environment, Sustainable Development, and Climate Change, Dr. José Herrera has been one of our biggest allies in ocean protection and preservation from the very beginning of our mission of making Malta the first plastic-free ocean country.
Besides providing constant support to WhiteFlag International, and being personally awarded the White Flag during few award ceremonies on beaches across Malta, on the occasion of October 5th, 2018, Minister Herrera geared-up in a scuba suit in order to physically extract plastic and other marine debris from the seabed of Ramla Bay.
