In this case study, Nina Shah, MD, a UCSF hematologist oncologist who specializes in multiple myeloma immunotherapy, discusses a patient’s course of treatment, undertaken in collaboration with his local oncologist. When the patient’s disease recently progressed to clonal evolution, after nearly a decade of effective traditional and novel therapies, he underwent CAR T-cell therapy for myeloma at UCSF, a promising treatment currently limited to clinical trials
