켄터키주 홍수로 최소 3명 사망, 수백 채 피해
For a look at the news from around the world, we now turn to our Matthew Ashley standing by at the Arirang newsroom. Good morning.
Good morning.
Let's start in the U.S. where there's been flooding in the state of Kentucky...
That's right,... at least three people have been killed following flooding in eastern Kentucky's Appalachia foothills.
Governor Andy Beshear said the death toll is expected to climb to double digits, adding that hundreds of homes have been damaged. He described the event as one of the most significant and deadly floods the state has seen in a long time.
The governor deployed the National Guard to rescue those stranded on rooftops, while declaring a state of emergency to free up much needed resources.
The floods come as the state was battered by torrential rains on Wednesday, with multiple reports of flooding early on Thursday local time.
Meanwhile, 25-thousand other residents have been left without power.
The national weather service says rain is expected to continue through Friday.
