Human Rights Violations: Forced Sterilization of Women of Color in America
This webinar was presented live on October 27, 2020, as part of NASW-NJ's Race, Responsibility, and Reconciliation Series.
Join NASW-NJ President Elect, Dr. Widian Nicola for this important discussion on the forced sterilization of women of color in USA.
Reports are emerging that women in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement are being sterilized en masse. A favored tool of racial cleansing, sterilization is an excruciatingly familiar part of our country’s - and the world’s - history. That this violence is now being perpetrated against brown-skinned bodies in the United States is not surprising, but is shocking. Our role as social workers is to become informed and stand against this form of torture.
