With dizzying population forecasts, food security is considered by many to be one of the greatest threats facing mankind. It’s a more immediate problem than you may think; by 2050, 9.5 billion people will live on Earth, all of us needing to eat in order to survive. Agriculturists are trying to tackle the looming problem by reducing waste throughout the food production process, but also by incorporating the nutritional value of maggots into the food chain that puts meat on our tables. Dr Graham Phillips takes a look at how the pure protein of maggots could help us solve the problem of food security in the future.
