Brock Blake, CEO of Lendio, spoke recently with Yahoo Finance and expressed his thoughts on extending the popular Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) once again.
When asked about an extension to the PPP, Blake explained: “They need the extension. That's the most important thing that a business owner can get right now is because this round of PPP has been full of complications and complexities.”
Blake also stated: “there are millions of business owners, in our estimation, that still are looking for that next round of PPP loan, haven't secured it by now.”
Explaining Lendio’s role in PPP loans, Blake said: “Today, the best product in the market is a Paycheck Protection loan, and so we've helped over 130,000 businesses secure about $9 billion of loans with the PPP loans.”

Meanwhile, the incredible city of Huntington Beach in the great state of California recently announced a new small business grant program, that will deliver vital disaster relief funds to eligible local companies.
125 micro-grants of $5,000 each will be offered to small businesses in Huntington Beach, for a total of $648,000.
Mayor Kim Carr explained: “It’s targeted toward small businesses because small businesses are the lifeblood of Huntington Beach. Anything we can do to keep them afloat during this pandemic is critical.”
She continued: “It’s just another opportunity for the city to keep these small businesses up and running, give them that helping hand that they need right now.”
This is incredible news for small businesses in the Golden State, and hopefully other similar small business grant programs are offered in your neck of the woods.
Finally, while we talk about the PPP a lot on this channel, another SBA disaster relief program, the EIDL, just received new guidance that could offer you $9,000 or $10,000 in free grant money, as well as a loan with deferment until 2022.
The SBA states on their website: “Advance funds of up to $10,000 will be available to applicants located in low-income communities who previously received an EIDL Advance for less than $10,000, or those who applied but received no funds due to lack of available program funding.”
SBA Administrator Tami Perrillo explained: “The EIDL program has assisted over 3.7 million of small businesses, including non-profit organizations, sole proprietors and independent contractors, from a wide array of industries and business sectors, through this challenging time.”
SBA Senior Advisor Michael Roth also said: “The SBA will not rest until we implement President Biden’s “American Rescue Plan” and its additional targeted programs and funds allocated for America’s small business and nonprofit communities.”
