Title: "For Whom the School Bell Rings The Case for Closing Educational Inequalities and Achievement Gaps"
In this research seminar (August 22, 2018) as invited and supported through the University of Canberra Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program, Dr. Jaekyung Lee (Professor of Education, University at Buffalo) speaks about the issues and challenges of closing educational inequalities and achievement gaps, based on his book "The Anatomy of Achievement Gaps" (Oxford University Press). He shares findings on racial/socioeconomic achievement gap trends, the causes of these divides, and the effects (and limitations) of policy interventions for excellence and equity in the United States. He also discusses policy lessons and implications for Australia.
