Disaster relief volunteering with All Hands and Hearts' disaster recovery program in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands was an unforgettable experience. Although this kind of volunteering abroad can be challenging, it is highly rewarding when you see the impact these volunteers make. All Hands and Hearts is in the USVI helping victims recover from Hurricane Irma & Hurricane Maria from 2017.

This organization merged in 2017 from two organizations that were created by two survivors of the boxing day tsunami in Thailand. Their mission was to create an organization that would not only help victims and survivors of natural disasters, but also provide hope.
After Hurricane Irma hit in September 2017, two weeks later, Hurricane Maria hit shore. Both were category five hurricanes that caused damage and destruction to 90% of the buildings in USVI. All Hands and Hearts was in the US Virgin Islands immediately following Hurricane Irma. They have been on the islands since then.
One year later, the people of St. Thomas are still recuperating from these hurricanes. All Hands and Hearts has provided over 75,000 hours of volunteer work on the islands. The work they are doing out there is invaluable and should be supported.
It was a pleasure and an honor to volunteer alongside such wonderful people from all over the world who care enough to come to the islands to help complete strangers. I'm so grateful to have been a part of this volunteer program and would again jump on a plane and volunteer abroad with All Hands and Hearts any day they need me.
