The Online Debate Series is brought to you by the India Conference at Harvard. It’s a prelude to our flagship event, and aims to provide a platform for leading voices in India to engage in civil debates, promote intellectual diversity, and curate thought-provoking discussions that inform and inspire. The debates will feature eminent speakers who will engage in traditional Oxford-style debates and where the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and vote for their winner.

Industrial Labor laws are undergoing the biggest transformation in the history of Independent India. With COVID 19 changing the economic landscape for many industries, several labor groups are found estranged between deregulation of laws and loss of jobs. Ms. Rituparna Chakraborty from Team Lease- India’s largest staffing company believes that these changes will give industries a much-needed momentum during the pandemic, while Dr. Ramaswami Balasubramaniam, Founder of GRAAM and SVYM predicts that this may alter Industry-labor relations, undoing several years of work.

Moderated by renowned Labour economist – Dr. Amrit Amirapu, join the debate to hear whether Deregulation of labour laws is imperative for industries to survive the Pandemic.
