Small children carrying heavy burdens, teenagers working every day in the fields - images like these are usually associated with countries like Cambodia or Mali, where 63% of children under 14 have to work for a living. But many children also have to work in the United States. According to a study by Human Rights Watch, 2.3 million children and young people in the US go to work every day. The children of uneducated immigrants are especially likely to be found doing agricultural labor. On the farms, they're exposed to heavy machinery and toxic pesticides.
