Catastrophic wildfires are tearing through Hawaii's Maui island, killing at least six people, injuring dozens of others and destroying hundreds of structures.

The fire has severely damaged the historic Lahaina town, an area popular with tourists, and there’s little the overwhelmed island can do to fight back.

Jackson Proskow reports on the deadly disaster that came with little warning, what fuelled the flames, and the extreme measures some people took to escape the danger.
