Hello, I am Dr. Shekhar Chirmade, Neuro Spine Surgeon at Ashoka Medicover Hospitals, Nashik, India. This 8th of June is World Brain Tumor Day. I am going to talk on Information about Brain Tumor.

What is a Brain Tumor? - 00:36
People are afraid of Brain Tumors. Brain Tumor is a very very rare condition that very few people usually affected by it. Of any aging brain, tumors can occur, It usually occurs in fifth or sixth decades of the patients i.e., after fifty years. But it also common in children.

Brain Tumor Types - 01:10
In the brain, you can get two types of tumors. They are

1) Benign Tumors: Benign tumor is completely removed from the brain, can be completely removed. Usually, do not have any problem in their future life.

2) Malignant Tumors: In the malignant tumor can spread, Similarly, in the brain, the malignant tumor can be removed or it can cause recurrence of the brain, but not spread outside of the brain. It recurs into the brain.

Symptoms of a Brain Tumor - 01:50

Usually, brain tumor symptoms person have very very less headache of less severity and they are of short duration, whereas if somebody is suffering from severe headache and if it is long term headache like six months, one year, two years. But if the headache is associated with vomiting and if it is associated with loss of consciousness, Imbalance or some visual difficulties, some visual problems all these symptoms then one can have the possibility of having a brain tumor.

Brain Tumor Diagnosis - 02:53

Diagnosis of Brain Tumor can be done by either doing the CT scan of the brain or MRI of the Brain. MRI usually cannot miss any brain tumor, CT scan sometimes misses brain tumors

Brain Tumor Treatment - 03:18

Majority of the Brain tumors require Surgery. Some of the brain tumors can be managed by tablets and medicines But the majority of the tumors require surgery.
