Access to Healthcare
Historically, the model in healthcare has been to let patients wait in line. Increasingly, consumers are not willing to wait in line. There are some disruptive players in the market space that have really created pressures on health systems to be able to provide more access to care. As healthcare systems have gotten bigger, I think one of the things they're missing is looking at their suite of services and where they should be providing each of those services.
In addition to that, care doesn't have to be delivered anymore on a face to face basis. We're seeing much more interest in virtual care and telehealth, and being able to use the technologies that we have as an industry to provide care in ways that the patient doesn't need to travel to the office, especially if that patient is ill and needs caregivers, or just wants the convenience of being able to log on from their home or office. Being able to efficiently run a health system both on the inpatient and the ambulatory side is critically important for these organizations to stay competitive in that space.
