5 Companies That Are Making Eco-Friendly Living Easier

Levi's Water Savvy Approach

Look for Levi's WaterLess line.

It's made up of the same styles you love, but uses up to 96% less water than the traditional denim finishing process.

40% of Levi's products use this approach that has saved more than 1.8 billion liters of water.

Terracycle Recycling Programs

Terracycle is an innovative company that partners with big-name companies to boost their recycling efforts.

Since 2001, they've set up programs that allow major brands like L'Oreal, Colgate-Palmolive, Procter & Gamble and PepsiCo to set up collection programs and organizing fundraisers.

So far, over $15 million has been contributed to charity and over 3.8 billion units of waste have been recycled.

Eileen Fisher Repair Program

As part of their Repair Program, any Eileen Fisher garment that has a missing button, small moth holes or broken zipper will be repaired by them within a few weeks at no cost.

The hope is that the retail stores' partnership with local tailors and their own experts will stop consumers from simply tossing lightly damaged clothes, which would ultimately wind up in landfills.

Ford Repurposes Aluminum

Knowing that aluminum was a big waste-contributor, Ford engineered a way to take scrap left over and re-use them to build more vehicles.

Their Closed-Loop Recycle and Upcycling initiative is able to save over 90% of the original material while maintaining the structural integrity necessary to keep their cars running their best.

H&M's Smarter Materials

H&M has been working on innovative materials to design more sustainable products for six years.

This year's collection focuses on the use of a polyester derived from recovered plastic.

Using materials that would otherwise turn into waste and potentially be toxic to aquatic life, the collection features high-fashion designs that are available online as well as over 150 stores.
